Honestly, I would have preferred to be associated with Led Zeppelin or would have liked the sound of Hendrix after the famous Jimi Hendrix, drop off the Jimi part coz I wouldn’t wanna be called Jimi.  Maybe… associated with Def Leppard Band and be named Def. Hmm I change my mind, I don’t want that. I can’t imagine myself being called Def. It sound like Deaf! Deaf! WTF!. Sebastian is way cooler and I’m perfectly fine with Basti.

My abuelo Tacio was the one who really called me by the name Sebastian though, except for people in formal functions, or events related to school stuff, taking attendance, etc. Abuelo Tacio hardly uses Basti, but the rest of the family have gotten used to calling me Basti. Miko teases me Basti the Savage Beastie Boy. It used to piss me off because he wasn’t in any way associating it with old school Beastie Boys at all, rather he says I’m like a beast! Oh man! That’s just so not me! Well, ok…. sorta, but that’s just once in a blue moon! As far as I can recall, he started calling me that after we picked a fight with this bully at school who kicked him. He said I was like a wild beast, savage and eyes so filled with fury. I don’t know, I just hate it when I know or I see my siblings getting hurt. I can never forgive those people until they taste the bitterness of their own doing, and until they regret ever hurting my loved ones.

I’ve tried just now to search for the meaning of the name Sebastian. According to the Greeks, the name Sebastian means “revered.” Whoa is that true? All I know is that  Sebastian was a Saint, I’m not. And the only other sebastian I know is the one in Disney’s ‘A Little Mermaid’, you know… Sebastian  the crab! My beautiful mom Chloe loves eating crabs, well I think we all do. Amari says  it’s like eating Sebastian the crab! But you know what Sebastian is actually a nice name, why else would it be so popular in Danish, English, German, Norwegian and Spanish speaking countries? I guess I should just be happy with my name. But still I prefer being called Basti.

Anyway, let me twist the topic a little before I end this post, I would just like to ask, if  there is anyone among you who has experienced getting a term life insurance from wholesale insurance, because i personally think that it will be awhole lot more affordable than the usual purchasing of an individual policy. What do you think?

I am happily married to Dee(Andrea), with one son Carlos Iñigo. I became a father at a very young age when I got my girl pregnant at the age of 17.  Dee and I got married when we reached the legal age. I am working part-time while studying so I won’t be totally dependent on my parents in raising my family. I am not capable of moving out yet or starting on my own.

I know most of you might say that I should try to stand on my own now that I have my own family. That will come… But now, I really can’t. I don’t wanna be a hypocrite and say I can and then see my wife and son suffer the consequences. The happiest day of my life was when Iñigo was born. I told myself that I will study hard and continue to strive towards reaching my goals to be able to give both of my families a better future, and to help my parents in sending my siblings to school.

For me Dee and Iñigo was never a mistake, things just happened earlier than planned, and my son is a blessing. I never had a single regret, and until now Andrea and I are happy loving each other. I am with the woman I love the most, and our son made our relationship even stronger. My whole family were happy too and they welcomed Andrea as a part of the family with open arms. When Iñigo came, my dad wanted him to bear not only his last name, but also his name, that’s why my son was named after him.

I’ve grown up in a different set-up as what we have now, a major incident changed all our lives and now we are struggling financially. But my parents are doing their best to provide for us, and I am also doing my best to help alleviate the situation and to provide for both my son and wife. I guess if there’s one thing that my keeps my faith strong is the truth that can never be changed, my family remained happy and intact through all the hardships. W are taking everyday as a challenge and a step towards  a better and happier life. And we are facing it as a strong bonded family.

With Mom, Dad, Lola Anna, Jr, Miko, Paolo, Amari, Andrea and Iñigo — I am a complete and happy man.
