Home, Family, Love and Togetherness. These words mean so much to me and my family. We stand together as one in the midst of all the challenges and hardship that each one of us are facing. We don’t let one be left alone in a battle, we support each other, love each other, and that’s the reason why we are happy being together.

We were brought up in such a way that we treat each of our family member as half of our lives. It doesn’t necessarily mean that we are dependent on each other, it simply means, “when one is in need, be there to help like how you would help yourself and how you would need help when you are facing the same problem or obstacle in life.”

I have already introduced everyone in my family, and by now you somehow have an idea what kind of people our family members are. But let me tell you more anyway. What makes our family different from the rest is that, we are not just family, but we are also friends.

It was during the darkest times of our lives that we have learned to value being family even more than we used to. We have learned to become best friends to each other. Mother and child relationship were strengthened, Father and child connection became even more tight, our love for our grandparents and Uncle Luis prevailed. If we were happy then, we have become happier now.

Home used to mean a house where we lived in, but we lost that house and we still found home everywhere we went. We have realized that Home is our Family being together Loving each other, staying strong no matter what. Home is Abuela Anna, Amari, Andrea, Iñigo, JR, Miko, Paolo, Me Basti, Mom Chloe and Dad Joey. Wherever my family is and wherever there is love, we are at home.

Home is in our hearts.

A Happy Day! – Testing Our New Notebook

Today was a happy Day! It was testing time for our new gateway md7801u notebook. I was so tempted to unbox it and play with it soon as Dad came home, but I waited for the rest of the family because I know they were just as excited and I didn’t want to spoil the fun. I know it’s cheesy but it’s just more exciting that way. We have learned to share our happiness and it works great for us, it’s sort of like a celebration of blessings, even little things like this new techie gadget that daddy Joey has bought us. You see, we’ve been tightening our belts for the past year and have learned to be content with what we have and not think too much about what we can’t have And having this one major gift from dad is just really awesome. It’s not just for me but for everyone, even for dad himself. He said he has already tested the gadget but he was just excited as all of us. The excitement was making me feel uneasy, how I wanted to drag time or make it run faster so that we can unbox our gift. I text-ed my brothers and told them about it and they couldn’t wait to come home.

Everyone was home and we already had a sumptuous dinner courtesy of mom Chloe and Abuela Anna. We all settled at the sala as if unboxing a present from santa. You can see and feel the excitement. JR was the one who unboxed the gift from dad and it’s really nice! It’s not the usual small and pretty light laptop, rather it was regular in weight but very classic looking. Dad said he has chosen the said laptop with a not so small screen so playing and watching movies would still be a great experience. The specifications were awesome as expected. We all loved it so much we couldn’t help but hugs and thank dad. Everyone took turns in using it, and Miko was so busy installing and setting up the Internet wi-fi router so both PCs will have connection at home.

As expected Amari, Miko and Paolo were crazy about downloading games to their newly upgraded PC. I can’t describe the happiness that everyone felt during that moment. Even as simple as unboxing a new gift, when shared with everyone, can be such a magical and happy moment for a family. Right now, dad is playing with our new toy and exploring. I’m sure he’s just as excited, coz it’s been awhile since he had to let go of his own laptop. What more can I say? It’s a happy day!

The Dizon Boys

The Dizon Boys – Basti, JR, Miko, Paolo and little Iñigo. We are the guardians and knights of our princesses Amari and Andrea, our queens abuela Anna and mom Chloe, and of course loyal to our king-daddy Joey. We are not just bonded by blood but as well as friendship. Our favorite hobby, and one thing that we all have in common, is playing basketball. Whenever dad’s free, we always spend time to play basketball. I can’t wait for my son Iñigo to grow up so he could join the boys.

Being the eldest among my brothers, It is my duty to keep them safe, and to be a good example to them. At one point it seems that I may have failed, but I didn’t want them to see that as a mistake rather I explain it to them that they have a choice, and since they have seen the consequence of my choices, they might as well learn from them. Whenever one picks a fight with another I settle them immediately, and whenever one of the boys is being bullied, the enemies should watch out, because not just one but a pack of wolves will hunt them down.

So far, my younger brothers are becoming much better each day. Even Miko’s rebellious character seems to be fading slowly as he grows older. He is becoming more mature and I am very happy to see him that way. He seems to be listening to JR’s advise. Honestly, I think JR is the most mature among the four of us. I even run to him for advise coz he has so much wisdom and sense that I don’t have. Paolo is also looking up to miko being the closest age to him. They are almost always together though they have a little difference in character. Miko plays as Pao’s protector and at the same time, Pao helps Miko in controlling his temper, because Miko never does bad things in front of Pao. He plays big brother and a role model to Pao.

Paolo Andres aka Pao – My Youngest Brother. Pao is 13 years old and second youngest to our sister Amari. Pao is an artist and a musician. He loves to paint just like our late Abuelo Tacio whose greatest hobby was painting and gardening. He also learned to play the Ukelele and violin when he was 5 y/o, now he loves playing both the guitar and Ukelele. He inherited our late Lolo Tacio’s ovation guitar which he has gotten as a gift from my Uncle Luis. The guitar was like a treasure to our Abuelo which he never entrusted to me, JR, and Miko.

Abuelo used to say, he will hand it down to his Apo who has not only liking for music and playing the instrument, but is truly passionate about it. Then came Paolo … and he was the one. I have great passion for music and I can play the guitar too, and I believe that so does my two other brothers JR and Miko, but we don’t have a talent like that of Paolo. He truly is one musical virtuoso, and we’re proud of him.

Paolo is also the one who got my mom’s skin type, how can one get so lucky? But it’s okay, he is our dear little brother and we love him so. He used to be our baby until Amari came, then Pao joined us in treating Amari like a princess. He was most excited of becoming a Kuya (big brother) when Mom was pregnant with Amari. Pao took care of Amari even if he was just about to get 5 y/o that time. He wasnt’t jealous at all, he loved Amari and he was so proud of her. As he was getting better and better at playing the Ukelele, he played until Amari fell asleep in the Duyan (baby hammock) while my mom watched over both of them. Pao is also fond of pets just like the rest of us, he always play around with Bob and the two dogs Balbon and Tikoy. Paolo is the most talented when it comes to arts and music, I’m pretty sure even JR and Miko would agree. Pao2x is the baby brother and he will always be baby brother to us.
