Abuela’s Funny Medical Check-up Day

We took Abuela to the hospital for her annual executive check-up, and we’re happy because so far the results shows that there’s nothing wrong with her. There are still some tests that she needs to do though, because she has to go through fasting. It’s funny because she was supposed to fast from last night til early this morning, but she forgot about it and she ate this morning.

While on our way to the hospital, I’ve noticed she was chewing something and she even asked for water. I found out that she was chewing Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) a herbal plant, her secret to her good health. She said it will surely make all the results fine. So, the whole fasting thing was totally forgotten.Another funny thing happened when she was about to have a physical exam.  The doctor’s assistant asked her to lie down in the exam table (looked more like a chair to me) while waiting for the doctor.  She  murmured something but the nurse assisting could not understand her. It turned out that she felt like peeing, and she wanted to get off first, but the lady did not understand her. When the doctor came, she suddenly called me, I was worried coz I thought something was wrong. She just told me that my Abuela wanted to go to the washroom.

After the exams, Abuela asked when she should start fasting coz she was already hungry. The doctor said it was okay to eat then after 10 pm at night she should not eat or drink anything anymore. She was relieved and she asked me to take her to her favorite resto and we ate. My Abuela is really funny in a cute way.
