Shortness in Breathing
Shortness of breath is commonly due to three things: lung problem, heart problem, and metabolic or chemical imbalance in the body.
Shortness in breathing from a lung problem can be due to bronchial asthma, which is due to the constriction or tightening of the airways. It can also be due to lung damage from smoking (emphysema) or bronchitis. It can also be due to lung infection such as tuberculosis or pneumonia.
When you have a heart problem, the blood is nit able to freely flow in and out of the heart, so the lungs are affected as a backflow of blood from the heart. This is often found in conditions called congestive heart failure.
Metabolic or chemical causes of difficulty in breathing are metabolic acidosis foundin severe diabetes, in kidney problems, or in poisoning.
