Lost in Translation

It is really hard when you are traveling to a non-English speaking country. You will need to have at least one company who knows the local language, otherwise, it will be a total nose-bleeding trip.

A friend just recently came home from a trip to one of the provinces in China to visit her long lost granma. His granpa took his kids here in the Philippines, after the marriage with their granma did not work. As a businessman, he found his luck here and decided to stay for good. Before his grandpa died, he told his kids where they could find their mom, and so my friend’s mom has decided to go to China to find her now old mother. Being the only son, my friend accompanied his mom on the trip, and he had a hard tiome communicating with the people. However, it was good enough that his mom can still speak chinese.

He told us about how he and his mom nearly got lost because  of the funny  and confusing English translations they had on restaurants, hotels, and even on the road and comfort room signs. He was laughinjg the whole time, but kept the reason to himself, because he wanted to show respect to the people around him. He said that the place was nice, and he would deinitely go back to know more of his family’s roots. However, he plans to study and learn chinese prior to going back. Hopefully, his next trip would be better.
