Caring For The Old

Most of us usually worry about the present, and we do not have time to think about what will happen in the near future. But even if things are smooth flowing right now, we should always be prepared to face both the inevitable, and the things that we could prepare ahead for. I am talking about old age., and caring for the old.

Our parents are not getting any younger, and our grandparents are already on their way to becoming weak and sometimes sick. Even if we want them to be healthy all the time, time will come that they won’t be able to take care of themselves and it is out turn to show them how much we care for them, and to provide for all their needs.

Now, we are buying things for our young kids, sooner or later we will have to buy adult diapers for our old folks. They may start to act like our little ones, but we have to continue showing them that love and respect that they deserve. When it was their turn to take care of us, they gave their best, and when the time comes that they would be needing us, we shouldn’t give them any lest than the best possible care one can give.

To give them the best care we have to make several adjustments. As simple as having bathroom handrails to show that we don’t want to give them a hard time. This is also a way of showing them that we ensure to put their safety first before anything. And with the nature of our jobs, we may not be able to personally take care of them during daytime, or the night time,  and deal with the situations  when they reach the point wherein they are not able to control their bowels  and urine, and we will have to hire and set-aside a budget for care givers with special trainings with incontinence, giving medications, and more, while we are away to work. Then we can spend more time with them, and personally attend to their needs when we are at home.

Just like the story of the wooden bowl. As early as now, we should show our love and care for our parents and grandparents, so we will serve as a good example to our younger siblings, and most especially to our own kids.
