Let Go, Move On and Give Yourself a Chance to Love Again
Let Go, Move On and Give Yourself a Chance to Love Again.
Moving On is hard to do when so many things remind you of the past. But why let a bad past take charge of your today, and influence your future, when you can make a better today? A better today that will make a better past, a better past that when you look back will make you smile and cherish the memories.
People come and go, and whoever is meant to stay, will stay, no matter what…Sometimes no matter how much you want somebody to stay, but if they don’t want to — there is nothing you can do but to let them go. If they come back then good, if they don’t — at least you’ve learned to let go and move on. All you need to do is love yourself a little more, to learn the art of Letting Go, Moving On and Giving Yourself a Chance to Love Again.
This is what I told a very close friend who keeps on weeping over a lost love. I know it’s easier said than done, but I guess it’s really time for her to move on. It’s been awhile, and she deserves someone better.
I often find it hard to give advice, most especially when both of the parties involved are my friends. Let’s hide their identities in the names Mac and Apple. They have been my friends since first year college. They’re the typical friends who became lovers. They became officially bf-gf just a year ago. It was Mac who really liked Apple a lot at first, he was head-over-heels in love with her. Eventually Apple fell for him too and circumstances changed, Apple was the one who liked and loved him more. They were happy until things changed.
After about 8 months of being together, Mac became too proud and started to take advantage of the fact that the girl loved him more and he thought that she would give in to anything that he desires just to make him happy and make the relationship last. He asked for something that Apple refused to give. He felt bad about it…
He started hanging out with a new set of friend. While hanging out with his newly met friends, Mac’s attention was caught by another girl, the type whom he would not likely fall for. Mac decided to call a break-up with Apple, and have been with the other girl since then.
I honestly thought that Mac really loved Apple because he waited so long just for her to become his girl, but when it happened, he just called it off out of his new peer’s and the new girl’s influence. It’s pretty sad because I have seen my friend turned himself into a person that he’s not. He told me that he don’t want to look like a loser being dump by some girl whom he pursued such a long time, when she finds out what really happened, and that their relationship will come to an end sooner or later anyway. Apparently, Mac got the other girl pregnant, and that’s what hurts Apple more. But even if he hurt her too much, she still loves him, and find it hard to let go of that love, and accept the things that happened.
I don’t quite get it. I’m a guy too, but I don’t see any sense in what he did. But, Mac and I are friends, and our friendship has nothing to do with whatever decisions he has made in his life, or whatever happened to their relationship. All I can do is be here to listen when they feel like talking it out. Now, there’s Apple crying, and as her friend, all that I can do is comfort her and tell her to love herself more and to let go of the past. I told her that for as long as she clings on to it, the harder it would be for her to let go and move on. I’ve also asked my wife Dee, who also happened to be her friend, to talk to her. Not that I care less, or I am taking sides. I just think that it’s still different when she would be able to confide to another woman.
Some men are jerks, that’s true! I admit to being one of them, I’m a jerk in some ways, actually in many ways… but I’m not jerk enough to hurt the woman I love most just because of pride, lust, or peer pressure.
To those women out there who experienced the same thing as Apple did, don’t be too hard on yourselves. Love yourself more… Let Go, Move On and Give Yourself a Chance to Love Again.
