Family Health and Home .com.random.not-so-random.whatever :P

It all started last year, when I began to experience burn out. I needed someone who will understand and listen to me. I talked to my mom, my dad, my younger  sibling JR who has been my constant source of sensible advice, and most especially my wife Dee who never get tired of  catching me whenever I fall. They are the ones who kept me sane during those times that I just wanted to give up. They lifted me my spirits high through all the nonstop encouragement to stay strong and to fight depression. They taught me how to refuse becoming miserable and  inspired me not to let my frustrations dawn on me.

After making it through what seemed like an endless struggle with myself, I’ve decided to see a professional counselor to ask for advice. I wanted to  know what to do just in case the same thing happens again, or better yet, know how to prevent myself from experiencing burn out. She said, it would be good if I kept a journal, then at the end of the day, I can pour out everything that is running inside my head.  The doctor was right,  I got caught up in all my responsibilities, and stress, plus not having enough rest started to wear me out. She said, all I needed was an outlet, and  it would not be good for my family if I pour out all my frustration on them. She said it will personally affect my  friends and family in a bad way. I love my family and I would not want to cause them any pain. I appreciate how they helped me cope but causing them trouble once was enough.

When i got back to work that night, I told my boss about the session I had with the doctor. Apparently, he was told the same exact advise by a psychiatrist a few years back, and  he’s been blogging since then, which basically means he’s been ranting online for bout 3 years now. My cool boss and friend offered to give me a domain, and during that time I could not think of a name. He said he’ll take care of it, and that’s how Family Health and Home came about.

I was expecting something more personal and general sounding though, so I can talk about anything under the sun, but he had a good explanation on why he has chosen this domain name for me. He said that he based it on my personality. Family Health and Home being the source of my inner strength and inspiration which I should focus more on, rather than getting distracted by all other things that might trigger stress.

He was right, because writing about my family made me happy, and it also made me realize how lucky I am. Sharing my thoughts about how important health and healthy living is, gives me a sense of fulfillment knowing that I may be influencing people out there to strive to live a healthy life.  And Home, being the place where I find happiness, rest, and comfort. Home where my family is, and where my heart belongs to.

Family Health and Home has given me that chance to write about my thoughts, pour out my emotions, and write about the things I love, hate, want, dream of, etc. I claim my right to exist on this part of the web. I claim my right to express whether there is someone willing to listen or not.  In this world of mostly faceless crowd, I found my virtual home, the extension of the one I have in real life, where I can talk about my family,  home and healthy living. This is also the place where  I get to share my art, poetry, as well as my life as a young dad and parent to my son Iñigo.

We all know that everything starts at home and our family.  From our character, etiquette, our unhealthy or healthy eating habits, to all our crazy antiques. It all begins and continuously developed at home with the rest of our family, whom we share the same  experiences and battles with. Our parents and guardians are  the ones who impart their knowledge to us on which food is healthy or bad for us. Food not only to satiate the cravings of our stomach but also food for our souls. They feed us with knowledge, and good character.

And for me, my virtual life here on the web, starts with Family Health and Home. I admit I am not a good writer, I’m not even good in grammar at all, but I am here to express myself through blogging, just like the rest of you.
I would like to thank all of you who takes time to read my blog. You are a part of my family now. A family whom I may not be with physically, but a family who shares the same passion for blogging and expressing themselves without fear of being criticized.

I actually thought your domain was kinda cool. At first I thought you were just a working commenter trying to promote a website. Yun pala blog pala talaga to! Hihi..

Most of the bloggers do it because just like you, they find blogging as a very effective outlet to release all the stressful events happening in their lives. Others like me find it really cool knowing that others lend their time reading our posts.

Welcome to the blog world po! ^_^

  10. kengkay says:

  14. Basti says:

    * payatot – oo nga eh, through blogging you feel that freedom to express yourself. ahm di naman, mejo bago.

    * Dr.Bruce -yeah I think so too, actually it took a lot for the whole family to really switch to healthy lifestyle.

    * gravity – I’m glad I have that effect on you. i’m not that good naman, I also have my evil side. LOL

    * kengkay – hehe graduate kana sa pagsusulat sa papel, and the nice thing about blogging is that, you really get to express yourself to the multitude. Unlike writing in your own privy journal.

    * emiLaySkie – ahah ganun ba? i think may ganung dating nga ang domain name na’to parang spam ba? don’t worry walang spam dito, wala ring ham. :P

*beer0 – yeah kabalo kaayo ko magbisaya bro!

  15. beero says:

mao ba. ngano man kabalo ka bro? hehe. baka nga mas marunong ka pa sa kin eh. hehe

  16. Well, I’m sure your readers (and I suspect your family) are glad that you’ve started blogging.

For me, I’ve never believed in blogging as I consider that simply a waste of time prior to coming to London.

Now that I’ve started, there’s really no going back, is there?

To many more years of blogging.

    Cheers,
    C K

  17. I recently found your blog on entrecard and I think it is pretty cool. I really enjoyed reading this post!

  18. ally says:

hi basti! thanks for taking time reading and giving pieces of advise…i really appreciate it.this is one thing i like about blogging.you can’t just write about what you think, people stop by your blog and make you feel they care about what you think as well!

Dude, i don’t agree when you said “I admit I am not a good writer, I’m not even good in grammar at all” because i think you’re one hell of a writer and there’s nothing wrong with your grammar at all! I also like the way you think and the fact that you’re a family man.

Well, having said all that, I will visit more often! hope to be part of your blogosphere family!

    ayo2x bai!

  19. Basti says:

way sapayan ally, basta ikaw Bai, way ‘blema na! welcome to my family!
